Donations of Securities Saves Capital Gains Tax.<\/h4>

In the example below, if you gift securities to the George Hull Centre, you avoid paying capital gains tax and therefore you are able to donate the full market value of $5,000. That is a savings of $1,070 in capital gains tax. Additionally, your charitable tax credit is greater by $482 for a total of $2,250 than if you had sold the shares and donated the proceeds as cash.<\/span><\/p>
