Parents of Children and Youth

The George Hull Centre proudly provides therapeutic programming for parents of children and youth.

As the parent of a child or youth dealing with a mental health issue, we know that both you, and your child, are in need of service and support. That’s why we’ve designed programming that not only services children, but also their parents to improve relationships, understanding, and providing hope.

Nurturing Connections

Nurturing Connections is a group designed for parents who want to learn how to improve their relationships with their children so that the children will feel increasingly secure and supported by their parents even in the face of conflict and challenges; and will in turn, be more responsive to limits and expectations.

Please note: Potential participants are assessed to determine their readiness for group work.

Nurturing Attachments

Nurturing Attachments is a group designed for adoptive, foster, or kin parents who want to learn how to nurture their attachments with their children so that the children will feel increasingly secure and supported by their parents and in turn more receptive to limits and expectations.

Participants reported that as a result of the group they had: increased empathy, increased ability to listen without distraction, lower reactivity, and more patience.

For more information, please see the Nurturing Attachments Flyer Winter 2022 or contact Rae Masche at 416-622-8833 x 252.

“Things have changed drastically with us since attending the Nurturing Attachments group. Not every day is easy, but now instead of having lots of stress, lots of arguing, and lots of traditional consequences, we have lots of acceptance, lots of curiosity, lots of support and lots of empathy.”
